Accessibility of the monument
Access
Free parking, two places reserved for persons of limited mobility (PLM) approximately 25 metres from reception and the ticket office. Places indicated by directional signs.
Access ramp to reception and the ticket office.
Drop-off to the left of the entrance.
The garden and park can be accessed without walking. A ramp with a gradient of over 10% links the park and the garden. Human assistance should be sought when using it.
The château court and the ground floor exhibition areas (Salle Dulac, kitchen, chapel and stables) can be accessed by wheelchair users. The exhibition areas on the upper floors are not accessible to persons with greatly reduced mobility, because of stairs. Number of steps encountered on the visit: 84 in total with maximum of 38 consecutive steps.
The clay floor and the presence of paving stones with gaps and steps that occasionally exceed 2 cm could limit access to the site for PLM. Human assistance may be useful for negotiating or crossing isolated steps.
Assistance dogs are welcome.
Services
A specifically adapted welcome point (80 cm high) allows wheelchair users to be welcomed.
A wheelchair may be hired, free of charge.
Cane seats are available free of charge in reception and in the château vestibule.
Seats are available on the continuous visit route.
PML-adapted toilets
Specially adapted visitor tools
The château has explanatory labels and wheelchair-accessible digital tools. (Touch-sensitive digital terminal in the chapel). The information panels present in the gardens are adapted to wheelchair height and sloped to facilitate reading.
A viewing system is available on request in the reception/ticket office building to compensate for non-accessibility of the upper floors to people with greatly reduced mobility. This system consists of digital tablets that allow access to the 360° virtual tour of the Château de Chamerolles. Persons with reduced mobility can thus discover the Promenade des Parfums in a welcoming area.
Guided tours offered to PLMs can be adapted in terms of time (fatigue, break time, travel etc) and rooms to be discovered (inaccessibility of floors).
